Description
The Verolme Cork Dockyard was based in Cork Harbour at Rushbrooke near Cobh. In 1959 the Dutch shipbuilding company Verolme took over the repair yard at Cork Dockyard and renamed it Verolme Cork Dockyard. It specialised in shipbuilding and repair and the creation of offshore platform modules. At its height, the dockyard employed 1200 people. The company ceased operations in 1984. The following collection is a snapshot of life in the shipyard.
